Pink Floyd Magazine
Pink Floyd History
A concise history of Pink Floyd, from 1960s London psychedelia to the classic albums, stadium tours and lasting cultural impact.
London Origins
Pink Floyd formed in London in the mid-1960s around Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Nick Mason. Their early shows combined music, light and projection in ways that already pointed beyond ordinary rock performance.
After Barrett departure, David Gilmour helped guide the band into a slower, deeper and more architectural sound.
The Classic Era
Between The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, Pink Floyd created a body of work that joined concept, studio innovation and visual theatre.
Their legacy is not only a list of songs. It is a way of thinking about music as environment, narrative and shared experience.
